Established in 1960 by President Ho Chi Minh, Cuc Phuong was Vietnam's first national park and remains one of its most important biodiversity hotspots. It is one of the most significant entries on the list of national parks of Vietnam. The park's 22,200 hectares of primary tropical forest are home to an extraordinary array of wildlife, including critically endangered primates, 300+ bird species, and over 2,000 plant species. Endangered Primate Rescue Center
Founded in 1993, the Endangered Primate Rescue Center rescues and rehabilitates endangered primates including the Delacour's langur, golden-headed langur, and black crested gibbon. With about 180 animals, it's a fascinating and important conservation facility. Guided tours are available daily.
Carnivore & Pangolin Conservation Program
Established in 1995, this program focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating small carnivores and critically endangered pangolins, many of which are listed on the IUCN Red List of threatened species. A unique opportunity to see these elusive animals up close.
Trekking Trails
- Short trek (2-3 km, 2 hours): Through primary forest to a 1,000-year-old tree. Suitable for most fitness levels.
- Medium trek (5-10 km, half day): Deeper into the forest with more wildlife spotting opportunities.
- Long trek (up to 30 km, 2-3 days): Overnight camping in the forest. Requires a guide.
- Cycling route: A 20 km road through the park, perfect for a cycling adventure.
Night Spotting Tours
One of Cuc Phuong's most unique experiences. After dark, join a guide to spot nocturnal animals including Black Giant Squirrels, Indian Flying Squirrels, Sambar Deer, and slow lorises. Requires an overnight stay in the park.
