Bai Dinh Pagoda
Vietnam's largest Buddhist temple complex with record-breaking architecture
Quick Info
Bai Dinh Pagoda is a monumental Buddhist temple complex that ranks among the largest in Southeast Asia. Built between 2003 and 2010, the new temple area features record-breaking architecture and religious art that's truly awe-inspiring in scale, while the nearby ancient pagoda dates back centuries. The complex reflects the deep tradition of Buddhism in Vietnam and is a masterpiece of Vietnamese architecture. The complex is located within the Trang An Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Highlights of Bai Dinh
- Corridor of 500 Arhat Statues: A long corridor lined with 500 unique stone statues of Buddhist saints (Arhats), each with a different expression and pose
- Tam The Hall: The main hall standing 34m tall and 59m long, the largest religious structure in the complex
- Bronze Bell: The largest bronze bell in Vietnam, an impressive centerpiece
- Tallest Buddhist Stupa: One of the tallest Buddhist stupas in Asia
- Ancient Pagoda: 800 meters from the new complex, accessed via 300+ stone steps through forest. Much older and more atmospheric.
